Destiny robles
Hi! My name is Destiny, and I have been dancing since age six. I started at the Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA). Starting with ballet, I quickly escalated to hip-hop, jazz, and tap. Very soon after I joined folklorico and the team dynamic was phenomenal! We were having performances almost every weekend at various events and went to competition every year. The adrenaline of the dance world was exciting!
I attended HSPVA (The High school for the Performing and Visual Arts.) Where dance really started to become my life. We had choreography classes, workshops and professional instruction for my three years in the dance department. ShortIy after i began teaching dance at various different companies and collaborating with artists. Often times during the summer break would spend my time teaching dance at a Summer Camp with children of various ages.
I have decided to expand my love for dance even more with my very own Dance&Destiny where I will be able to cultivate the dynamic beauty in self-expression through this art. I think there is so much to explore in this area and it’s all within us.
BEHIND THE DANCER
My dance journey was ignited by my mom who was my greatest supporter and best friend. Unfortunately, she passed away two years ago, and nothing had been the same since.
In going through the toughest time of my entire life, dance was the only thing that kept me afloat. The human emotion and connectivity I was able to experience during this time was essential. Dance for me was no longer just a fun hobby, it was a way to heal and to overcome.
With my mom in mind as well as the fact that many unfortunate events are inevitable, I decided to open D&D.
In the dance studio I am able to forget about all of my troubles for just a moment and have full control.
It allows us to continuously strive for more and to be better.
It truly is a beautiful thing to have something like this as an outlet. I believe this art is what you can do
I want to expand my love for dance and help others experience the amazing benefits dance can bring into your everyday life.
EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CHILDREN ABROAD
CHINA, SPAIN, AND ROMANIA!
I have had the incredible opportunity to volunteer in three different countries, from China to Spain and even Romania!
I worked closely with children from various cultural backgrounds. These experiences have enriched my understanding of different learning styles and fostered my ability to connect with students on a personal level.
Through these interactions, I’ve developed essential skills in communication, patience, and adaptability. I’ve learned how to inspire and engage children in a way that resonates with them, regardless of their background. This experience uniquely equips me to create an inclusive and supportive environment in my dance classes.
